NC State recognized
with three national advising awards
The National Academic Advising
Association (NACADA) is honoring one program and two individuals at
NC State for their outstanding service,
leadership and contributions to the improvement
of academic advising. The awards will be presented during NACADA’s national
conference in October.
The First Year College will
be honored with an Outstanding Institutional Advising Program Certificate
of Merit. The award recognizes programs
that document innovative
and/or exemplary practices resulting in improvement of academic advising service.
First Year College was one of two programs in the nation selected to receive
this certificate.
“The First Year College
program is honored to be recognized for our excellent work advising
and teaching our students as well as exposing them to the abundant
opportunities available to them at NC State,” said Karen Hauschild,
associate director of the First Year College. “We are proud to be considered
for this award alongside so many other prestigious institutions across the
nation.”
Lauren Brown, academic advisor
for First Year College, is one of six academic advisors nationwide
who will receive an Outstanding New Advisor
Certificate
of Merit. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated qualities
associated
with outstanding academic advising of students and who have served as an
advisor for a period of three or fewer years.
Andrea Irby, director of Advising
Central, will be awarded the Service to the Technology in Advising
