Achieve! is living up to its name. The university’s marketing and branding campaign “NC State: Achieve!” is one of three university programs or products to earn national awards this year from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. The campaign was presented a Silver Medal in the institutionwide branding program category after the judges compared it with 17 other entries. In their praise of the campaign, the judges noted the level of “Hampered by the fact that adoption of the marketing campaign was voluntary rather than mandated, university communicators succeeded in bringing many disparate units and purposes into the program by a concerted effort to build buy-in, provide value, and adapt the program to specific unit purposes,” the judges wrote. “Creative execution was strong, and internal response was favorable.” Terry Wood, vice chancellor for university advancement, agreed. While the award formally recognized the work of the offices of Public Affairs, Creative Services and News Services – led by Debbie Griffith, associate vice chancellor for public affairs – Wood said that it has been the participation throughout campus that has produced results. “Our very large and diverse campus has truly rallied around the Achieve! marketing campaign, and the results have been remarkable,” Wood said. “It’s allowed us to celebrate and take pride in NC State’s accomplishments and look beyond to see what else is possible. This award validates the hard work of all our public relations and communications staff across campus who have embraced the effort. We really are a ‘community of achievers!’” One of the ways “Achieve!” was incorporated into the university’s marketing was through its halftime advertisement shown during network broadcasts of sports events. “The Road to Achievement,” also earned a national Silver Medal in the video PSA and commercial spots category. The spot was produced through the combined efforts of the staff of Creative Services and Trailblazer Studios. The spot was selected from among 40 entries. A third national award for NC State, a Bronze Medal, was presented in the category of interactive multimedia program for the Annual Fund flash video “What Makes State Great?” The video was designed by Bronwyn Hawkins of Creative Services with assistance from Annual Fund’s Lorna Lodholz and Lenora Kraft. It was chosen as an award winner from among 31 entries. Posted June 18, 2004 |
