Bressler |
• Gene Bressler, who has been named chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture. Since 1997, Bressler has served as chair of the landscape architecture department at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center, College of Architecture and Planning. In 2006, Bressler was recognized with a national award from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture for his leadership and for his contributions to teaching. His areas of research and teaching focus on urban growth, sustainable development and the planning and design strategies for “challenging suburbia.”

Gillan |
• Dr. Douglas J. Gillan, who has been named head of the Department of Psychology. Gillan comes to NC State from New Mexico State University, where he served as professor and head of the Department of Psychology from 2000 to 2006. Gillan’s research interests include information visualization, applications of psychological principles to real-world problems and knowledge acquisition by instruction, inference and associative learning. He is a fellow with the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

Harrison |
• Dr. Antony H. Harrison, who has been named head of the Department of English. Harrison has been a professor in the department for the past 32 years. Harrison is a widely cited author in studies of Victorian poetry, both nationally and internationally. He is recognized as one of the premier scholars of Christina Rossetti. His professional interests include textual editing, gender studies, critical theory and the history of the book.

Piedrafita |
• Santiago Piedrafita, who has been named chair of the Department of Graphic Design. Since 2004, Piedrafita hasserved as chair of the design department at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). Earlier this year, he was named to the prestigious I.D. Forty, the International Design magazine’s annual list of the top 40 designers, architects and visual designers worldwide.
