Featuring 15 students from some of the nation’s top colleges, the tournament will pay off with a grand prize of $100,000 in cash to the champion. The episodes will air nationally from Nov. 7-18 (check local listings for station and time). Locally, the series airs on ABC11 at 7 p.m.
“It’s only natural that great achievers assemble in Raleigh and the Research Triangle for the Jeopardy! College Championship,” Chancellor James L. Oblinger said. “We’re pleased to serve as the host campus for the championship and display to the nation our world-class academic community.”
“The Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville area is a great college-oriented community including many of the country’s finest educational institutions,” said Jeopardy! Executive Producer Harry Friedman. “Essentially, it’s an ideal location and a complementary fit to host the 2005 Jeopardy! College Championship. We’ve been working for several years with our partners at ABC11 to make this a truly memorable event.”

Tickets for the general public will be made available for the tapings. Jeopardy! fans may pick up ticket applications at participating Leith Automotive dealers throughout the area or in advertisements in the News and Observer and the Fayetteville Observer.

This year’s College Champion is guaranteed a $100,000 cash prize, and a specially designed trophy. The second place contestant is guaranteed a minimum of $50,000, and third place pockets a minimum of $25,000.
There will be six “Brain Bus” events around the state to give local students a chance to qualify to be on the show. Students must be 18 years or older and a registered full-time college student. The students will take a Jeopardy! test and possibly play a round of Jeopardy! at each of the locations. The “Brain Bus” will make a stop on the NC State campus on Tuesday, Aug. 23.
