The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and NC State have initiated a plan for fairgrounds parking on Trinity Road during NC State football games. The plan is similar to the practices and procedures in place within NC State’s parking lots at Carter-Finley Stadium and the RBC Center. The changes will be in place for NC State’s next home football game, Sept. 18 against Ohio State. The plan includes: • Limiting access to the 1,200 spaces in the Trinity Road fairground parking lot to those with a parking permit. Six hundred spaces will be allocated to students, and 600 to other patrons. • Parking permits for students will be issued through normal ticket distribution procedures. Parking permits will be mailed to eligible season ticket holders by the Wolfpack Club. • On game day, fairground
parking will open five hours before game time. (For the Ohio State
game, the gates will open at 10:30 a.m.) • The fairgrounds lot will be patrolled by law enforcement personnel in a manner similar to the Carter-Finley lots. “ We’ve made these changes working cooperatively with the Department of Agriculture and local law enforcement agencies,” said NC State Interim Chancellor Robert Barnhardt. “I believe the changes we made will be effective while still allowing our fans to enjoy a festive atmosphere and have fun at our games.” “Throughout our discussions with NC State, safety has been the first and foremost point of concern of both this department and the university,” said Agriculture Commissioner Britt Cobb. "We believe these changes are positive, and the right measures to take.” The main entrances to the fairground parking will be at the large oak tree on Trinity Road and at the entrance on Youth Center Drive. McLaurin Parking staff will control this area via parking permit supervision and will manage the lots to maximize the spacing of vehicles. Signs will designate this area as “State Fairground Parking.” This area also will be controlled and patrolled by a combination of law enforcement agencies. The North Carolina Department of Transportation will operate message boards to help with traffic information and control. Parking areas for RVs and events running concurrent with football games
will be clearly marked. Posted
