Today, the NC State community took a significant step in our journey of innovation and excellence. Throughout our history, NC State has been a leader – in educating students, in fueling research, in driving economic development and in responding to the needs of North Carolinians. Today we are a community of achievers solving problems, creating jobs, changing lives. And with the launch of this capital campaign, we have the opportunity to build the future of NC State – a future where innovation and action meet.
The transformation of our university will be driven by a vision of knowledge, discovery and results – scholarship for the 21st century. Today, we are part of a global community that is fast-paced, networked, inter-connected and technology-driven. Our scholars –in disciplines ranging from science and technology to history, the arts, design, and the humanities – not only preserve the past but also provide the tools to solve the problems of the future. Across campus, our students, faculty and staff are at the forefront of cutting-edge research and emerging new fields. We help shape our students to be the leaders of tomorrow, fostering creativity and commitment. Supported by this forward-thinking vision, NC State is poised to shape the future of our state, our nation and our world.
Achieve! The Campaign for NC State will ensure our ability to transform lives for generations through teaching and research, as well as extension, engagement and economic development. This campaign will build on our strengths and elevate NC State among the top public universities in the country. It will enable us to better serve the students of today and tomorrow, providing opportunities to students from across the state and around the world. It will foster a spirit of public service among all members of the campus community, producing powerful results for our state. We will recruit and retain the best and brightest faculty, we will excel at research that fuels solutions, and we will continue to be leaders and achievers.
Our goal – $1 billion – is ambitious. But this is NC State. The history of this university, the traditions we have built, and the supporters who hold NC State in high esteem and who have a history of giving back allow us to be ambitious. Private gifts given during this campaign will help solidify NC State’s reputation as a national leader, and the endowments that are established will be a source of achievements far into the future. We must never be satisfied with yesterday’s accomplishments. Achieve! The Campaign for NC State will further our tradition of innovation.
