Campus invited
to campaign kickoff
The entire NC State campus
is invited for a “Big Bash” on Thursday, Sept. 22, to help
kick off the public phase of Achieve! The Campaign For NC State. Events
are scheduled from 4 to
7:15 p.m. in and around Talley Student Center.
The Big Bash is one of two public
events
scheduled for next week. The fund-raising campaign will be announced publicly
at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, in the McKimmon
Center and is open to the public.
The Big Bash is an
evening of “unabashed
fun” for faculty, students
and guests, starting with an open reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres
and entertainment from 4 to 5:45 on the second floor of the Talley Student
Center.
The chancellor and others will make brief presentations from 6 to 6:15
p.m. in Stewart Theatre, followed by a performance by Raleigh-born Lauren
Kennedy and her husband Allen Campbell from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Kennedy and
Campbell have received excellent reviews from critics for their performances
in Broadway shows including “Les Misérables,” “Sunset
Boulevard,” “South Pacific,” and “Beauty and the
Beast.” Since seating in Stewart Theatre is limited, an RSVP is required.
Anyone who has not already reserved a spot may do so by sending an e-mail.
“This is going to be a lot of fun and a great kickoff for the
Achieve! campaign,” said
Alex Miller, associate vice chancellor and director of the university scholars
program, and organizer of The Big Bash. “The campaign represents
an important moment in the university’s history, and we’d
like the entire campus community to come out, have a good time, and celebrate
the kickoff with us.”
