SmartCommute Challenge under way

Take the SmartCommute Challenge and you could win a trip for two anywhere in the continental U.S.

Simply pledge to ride the bus, carpool, vanpool, telework, bike or walk to work at least once before Sept. 30 and you will be entered to win two round-trip tickets and a week’s hotel stay, plus other prizes. You can take the challenge at www.SmartCommuteChallenge.org.

Once you try an alternative mode of transportation, you may find unexpected benefits.

“Before taking the bus every day, I knew that I did not relish commuting, but I did not realize just how stressful it was,” said Karen Ciccone of NC State’s Natural Resources Library. “The absence of that stressor in my life has made a noticeable improvement in my health, my mood, and my outlook on life in general. Taking the bus has given me time to read, relax and think. The positive impact of taking the bus literally extends to all areas of my life.”

For help planning your bus trip, biking to work, finding a vanpool, or finding a carpool partner, contact Adena Messinger at 515-1609.
