Seven out of the last eight years, NC State employees have broken donation records in the State Employee Combined Campaign (SECC). With the nation and state experiencing difficult social and economic circumstances, organizers of this years campaign hope the university community will be as generous as possible. Dr. David Haase, SECC campus chair and director of The Science House, said the goals of this years campaign which will kick off Oct. 5 is $420,000 in contributions. Its a privilege for us to give, Haase recently told the General Faculty meeting. I hope you will take advantage of this privilege and show the community that NC State does care. This years campaign booklet includes the names of more than 1,000 charitable agencies. One of those charities is the NC State Family Scholarship, which is a need-based scholarship for dependants of NC State employees. Employees who choose to designate their gifts may choose one or any combination of these agencies, in amounts as small as $5 each. The State Employees Combined Campaign was started in 1984, replacing the United Way Campaign, which took place on campus for many years. The United Way is still included in the campaign, and employees can give either to the United Way itself or to any of its member charities. But there are literally hundreds of other options as well. Employees should be receiving their booklets and pledge forms soon. More information about the campaign, including how to give, is on the Web at www.ncsu.edu/secc. To
encourage SECC participation this year, the university is offering a
variety of incentives. Individuals returning their pledge form by Oct.
14 will be eligible for a drawing for two tickets for the Nov. 2 NC
State vs. Georgia Tech football game. Other drawings will be held for
a year free AS parking space, Wolfpack basketball tickets
and NC State logo items. Posted October 4, 2002 |
