NC State to host two-day
textile conference

The Institute for Textile Technology (ITT) at the College of Textiles will host a two-day conference on Wednesday, Nov. 12 and Thursday, Nov. 13 devoted to technical presentations of significance to the textile industry and an in-depth review of observations from the International Textile Machinery Association Exposition.

The conference is held twice a year by ITT, and will mark the first Technical Advisory Committee meeting in which the resources of ITT and the College of Textiles have been fully integrated.

The program on Wednesday, Nov. 12 will include:
• “Trends in Automotive Textiles” by Professor Nancy Powell, NC State
• “Competitiveness Challenges in a Fragmented Sourcing Environment” by Dr. Nancy Cassill, NC State
• “Application of Nanotechnology in Textiles” by Lei Qian, ITT
• “Energy Efficient Textile Operations in the 21st Century Marketplace” by Joel White

On Thursday, Nov. 13, ITT and College of Textiles faculty and staff will present their observations of new developments in textile machinery and technology from the 2003 International Textile Machinery Association Exposition in Birmingham, England. This review will provide a detailed evaluation of the technology presented and the implications for U.S. textile manufacturers.

The two-day conference is normally open only to ITT members. However, in an effort to publicize the new alliance with NC State, both members and non-members are invited to attend. The cost for the two-day program is $400. To attend only the ITMA review session, the cost is $200 for members of ITT and $295 for non-members. To view the complete listing of presentations and to register visit www.itt.edu.
