University Theatre presenting
hit musical "Cabaret"

University Theatre is presenting John Kander and Fred Ebb’s musical hit “Cabaret” through Oct. 5 at Stewart Theatre. Curtain time is 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. A special matinee will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, students, NC State faculty and staff, and members of the N.C. State Alumni Association, and $6 for NC State students. For more information, or to order tickets, call Ticket Central at 515-1100.

“Cabaret” is set in pre-war Germany during the Nazi’s rise to power. The ritzy Kit Kat Klub provides a sophisticated backdrop to a society blinded by the glamour of the cabaret world despite the impending doom in Germany as the Nazi’s prominence grows.

While in Berlin to search for a setting to pen his latest work, young American novelist Clifford Bradshaw, played by Will Sanders, is quickly seduced into the cabaret world. The Kit Kat Klub is where Bradshaw meets entertaining showgirl Sally Bowles, played by Katie Flaharty. Cliff falls in love with the wild and unstable Sally, but the passionate yet misguided pair seems destined for tragedy from the start.
