Reynolds restoration
complete
On Sept. 30, the Army, Navy,
Air Force and Marine ROTC units returned to their home in Reynolds
Coliseum, officially bringing another chapter
in that building’s history to a close.
Their offices had been gutted
by a fire that damaged the building on May 30 and resulted in the displacement
of 47 people from ROTC and athletics.
“We were definitely interested in trying to get these displaced
folks back in place as soon as we could,” says Phil Swaney, facility
engineer in design and construction services. “We’re pleased
that we finished the work ahead of schedule.”
The total cost of
the repair effort was $1.2 million and involved fire and water damage
clean-up, replacing the transformer and restoring power to the
building,
and completely rebuilding and refurbishing the most damaged rooms.
