The NC State Creative Writing Program welcomes its first Distinguished Visiting Writer this week, acclaimed novelist and short story writer Richard Bausch. Author of "Hello to the Cannibals," "In the Night Season," and "Take Me Back," Bausch will deliver a reading on Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in 29 Winston Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Bausch has published eight novels and five volumes of short stories. He is also the co-editor of the "Norton Anthology of Short Fiction." Regarded as a contemporary master of the short story, Bausch has published several collections, including "Someone to Watch Over Me," "The Selected Stories of Richard Bausch," and "Rare & Endangered Species, a Novella & Stories." His stories have appeared in The Atlantic, The New Yorker, Esquire, Harper's, and numerous literary journals and anthologies, including the "O. Henry Prize Stories" and "Best American Short Stories." He was recently inducted into the Fellowship of Southern Writers. Bausch's visit initiates the Distinguished Visiting Writer program, an annual event hosted by the NC State Department of English's Creative Writing Program that includes seminars, workshops and readings featuring a nationally known author. For more information about Bausch's reading or the NC State Creative Writing Program, please contact John Kessel, director of creative writing, at tenshi@unity.ncsu.edu.
