Students, faculty and staff can apply for a passport and have a chance to win two free tickets on Independence Air at a passport awareness program sponsored by NC State’s Committee on International Programs. The program will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 1-5 p.m. in the Caldwell Hall lounge on campus. The program will feature presentations on passports, travel and health concerns associated with international travel. Officials from the U.S. State Department will begin the program with a session on general passport information at 1 p.m. A representative from NC State’s Student Health Center will conduct a session on travel health issues beginning at 3 p.m. To apply for a new passport, applicants must bring a certified copy of their birth certificate. Naturalized U.S. citizens must bring their original naturalization paperwork. Those wishing to renew an existing passport must bring their old one with them. For additional details and cost information, visit the Web. Only checks and money orders will be accepted at the program. Officials will also be on hand to process passport applications and take passport photos. Passport photos will be available from 1-5 p.m. The first 100 applicants will receive their photos for a reduced fee of $5. Officials will process applications from 2-5 p.m. To be eligible to win the airline ticket giveaway, participants must attend either the passport information session at 1 p.m. or the travel and health session at 3 p.m. and apply for a passport.
