Campus to get new ID cards

2004 University ClosingsNC State and the All-Campus Net-
work Office will issue new AllCampus ID cards to all faculty and staff, students, visitors, gym users, affiliates, contractors and others who require on-campus identification beginning Dec. 11.

The newly designed AllCampus ID Cards will replace current ID cards on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004.

At the start of business on that day, old ID cards will no longer work. The ID cards currently in use will not be recognized by the new system, so a new AllCampus ID Card is mandatory for everyone. You may continue to use money for the library copier program at DH Hill Library stored on the “skinny” stripe of the old ID card until depleted.

Thanks to a partnership with Wachovia Bank, the new AllCampus ID Cards also will serve an expanded role as an ATM card. As in the past, the card still will be used as a basic campus ID for all on-campus activities and transactions. However, Wachovia has made it possible for faculty, staff and students to use their new card as an ATM card if they choose to have an account with Wachovia. Using the AllCampus ID Card as an ATM is not a requirement.

“We are pleased to partner with Wachovia to integrate banking services with the new AllCampus Card here at NC State,” said Randy Lait, business manager for University Dining. “This partnership will expand the services offered through the card, and combine the convenience of the AllCampus Card with the uses of a bank card off campus.”

Card holders linked to a Wachovia account can use the card in any one of Wachovia’s 4,500 ATMs along the East Coast to access cash in any account linked to the AllCampus Card. Faculty, staff and students can visit any Wachovia financial center to link their Wachovia account to their AllCampus card and select a PIN. Wachovia also will have representatives on campus Jan. 12-16 in the Multipurpose Room of the Witherspoon Center to open accounts and assist customers with linking their accounts and selecting their PIN.

Wachovia offers a variety of banking packages, including a Free Student Checking package and a Wachovia At Work package for faculty and staff.

The university will print new cards using data and photos already stored in the current system, and there are several methods for students, faculty and staff to pick up their new AllCampus ID Cards. For students living off campus, the new cards will be available for pickup at the Reynolds Coliseum ticket windows from Dec. 11-19. For those living on campus, AllCampus ID Cards will be delivered.

AllCampus ID cards for faculty and staff will be available through each department’s payroll coordinator on Dec. 31. Gym household guest access cards will be distributed at Carmichael Gym, while affiliate cards will be distributed at the Centennial Office on Dec. 31. Encore Program cards will also be available on Dec. 31 at the McKimmon Center.

For those people for whom information required to pre-print a new card was incomplete, ID stations will be set up during the month of January to create a new AllCampus ID Card.
