MacNaughton |
MacNaughton will begin duties on Jan. 1. He succeeds Charles Leffler, who was appointed vice chancellor for finance and business in August.
As associate vice chancellor for facilities, MacNaughton will have responsibility for the areas of facilities planning and design, construction management, facilities operations and the Office of the University Architect, as well as oversight of the bond program. He will also play a key role in the development of Centennial Campus.
MacNaughton has more than 17 years of experience within the state facilities environment, including four years as manager of facilities design at NC State between 1994 and 1998. Since 2003, he has served as special assistant for capital projects at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he provided oversight and management of a $1.3 billion capital campaign.
Previously, he worked in the UNC System’s Office of the President, where he was part of a three-person team working to formulate the system’s $6.9 billion, 10-year capital request that led to the passage of the 2000 Higher Education Bonds. He began his facilities management career as a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the United States Coast Guard Academy and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois. He currently serves on the State Building Commission.
