Phased retirement enrollment set to begin
Full-time, tenured faculty who meet age and service criteria should have recently received a letter from the provost referencing enrollment in the NCSU Phased Retirement Program (PRP) for 2007-2010. Faculty members who did not receive a letter from the provost and believe they are eligible should e-mail Shauna Stackhouse or call 515-4311 to inquire about eligibility. The enrollment period for the 2007-2010 PRP begins on Sept. 18 and ends on Feb. 16, 2007. PRP materials such as eligibility criteria, program guidelines, terms and conditions, etc. can be found on the Web site.

Wine celebration to benefit research, arboretum
“Celebrate North Carolina Wines,” presented by the College of
Agriculture and Life Sciences, will take place on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 3
p.m. to 7 p.m. at the JC Raulston Arboretum. The event will feature
tastings from 15 North Carolina wineries, NC State research demonstrations, a silent auction and a reception with heavy hors-d’oeuvres and dessert. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. Proceeds will benefit NC State viticulture and enology research and the JC Raulston Arboretum. For more information, contact Autumn Keck at 513-3826.

Diversity Summit planned for Oct. 5-6
The 2nd Annual Diversity Summit, titled “Planting Seeds for Future Harvest,” will be held Oct. 5-6 at Talley Student Center. This event brings together professionals, students and others interested in learning more about how to recruit and retain diversity in their organizations. Equal Opportunity Institute accepting applications
Applications are now available online for the Equal Opportunity Institute (EOI).  The EOI is a unique certificate program open to all NC State faculty, staff and students, and to the general public. Participants learn about equal opportunity, diversity, affirmative action, discrimination and harassment, and university policies and procedures.  
The program takes place each year from September through May. Participants begin with an orientation session, during which they design an individual educational plan.

Registration ongoing at Crafts Center
Registration is ongoing for fall semester crafts classes and studio use at The Crafts Center. For information, visit the Web site or call 515-2457. 

Retirement reception planned for Bill Padgett
A reception honoring Bill Padgett, who retired this summer after 32 years of service to NC State, will be held on Friday, Sept. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Caldwell Hall Lounge. Padgett most recently served as director of Computing Services. He worked as a chemist in the Department of Crop Science from 1974 until 1985, then joined the Computing Center, which is now the Information Technology Division.

Law school representatives to visit campus Sept. 18
Members of the NC State community who have an interest in attending law school are invited to a showcase on Monday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Student Senate Chambers of Witherspoon Cinema. Representatives from law schools throughout North Carolina will be on hand to discuss information about their programs and to answer questions. No prior registration is required. E-mail any questions to Mary Tetro. Please put “Law” in the subject line.

Study Abroad Fair scheduled for Sept. 20
A Study Abroad Fair will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Brickyard. Members of the campus community are invited to come and learn about the international opportunities available. For more information, e-mail the Study Abroad Office or call 515-2087.

Registration to begin for Spanish business certificate
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid and the University of Alcala de Henares will offer a Spanish business certificate exam at NC State on Thursday, Nov. 16. Registration for this exam will be held Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 6, in Room 117 of the 1911 Building. Cost is approximately $120, payable by check or money order. A photocopy of the participant’s personal ID is required at registration. For more information, e-mail Ana E. Gray or call 515-9311.
