Feeding the World

A three-location service event spearheaded by NC State and international hunger relief organization Stop Hunger Now exceeded all expectations, as volunteers packaged more than one million life-saving meals to be distributed to destitute residents of El Salvador, Haiti and India's Marapon district. At Service NC State – held Saturday at Carmichael Gym – students, faculty and staff helped assemble more than 400,000 meals for those in need.

Trees Into Fuel: NC State Garners USDA Rural Development Grant to Study Wood as an Alternative Feedstock

A new three-year, nearly $1 million Rural Development Biomass Research and Development Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will allow North Carolina State University scientists to test the efficacy of growing genetically modified trees across North Carolina and using them to produce ethanol inexpensively.
