In lieu of choosing a traditional Homecoming king and queen each year, NC State University selects two students to receive the designation of "Leader of the Pack," a honor based on their outstanding university achievements in leadership, scholarship and service. During halftime of Saturday's football game, Elise Bullard ('11) and Matt Avery ('10) were named this year's winners and were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Work by researchers at North Carolina State University is leading to a new kind of crab harvest – blue crabs grown and harvested from freshwater ponds, instead of from the sea.
