Motivation
Site visits to Drury College and Nebraska Wesleyan University in Spring 1997
included one day of classroom observation and interviews with at least 10 students at each school
Both were small (1200-1400 students) liberal arts schools in their 2nd year of implementing Workshop Physics (WP)
- According to 1996 Princeton review, Drury has slightly higher ACT and is marginally more selective
Drury program seemed more effective and Drury students appreciate WP more
- Drury had slightly higher FCI fractional gain (0.45 to 0.40)
- Drury students had more favorable MPEX responses and more gain
Interviews were studied to try to identify differences in students and implementations
