Library

The African American Cultural Center Library (also known as the African American Cultural Center Reading Room) houses a collection of educational and leisure reading and audio/visual resources by and about Africans, African Americans and other members of the African Diaspora. The collection supports Africana Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies and the Interdisciplinary Studies Course (IDS).

Services & Equipment

The AACC Library is an affiliate of the NCSU Libraries. The Library has computer workstations that provide internet access, online searching of the entire NCSU Libraries collection, and databases and online access to course reserve materials. Items not available in the NCSU Libraries can be requested online through “Tripsaver” (the interlibrary and document delivery service). From the “Ask Us” link under Services on the NCSU Libraries homepage, reference assistance is available by phone, instant message, text message, and E-mail. Online searching of the library catalogs at Duke, NCCU and UNC is also available.

In addition, the Library has wireless capabilities, a photocopier, a black and white Telesensory Voyage Visualtek CCTV with screen magnification for use by visually impaired, and a TV/VCR/DVD for viewing videocassettes and DVDs.

Borrowing

Materials may be checked out of the AACC Library by NCSU students, staff, and faculty only.

Policies

Cell phones, pagers, food and drinks are not permitted in the AACC Library.
