Organization

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Kappa Omega Chapter

Purpose

Seven young ladies, with a sincere desire to strengthen their African American community, founded Sigma Gamma Rho at Butler University, Indiana, in 1922. The primary goal of these visionaries is exemplified in the sorority’s motto, “Greater service, greater progress.” Commitment to this ideal has given Sigma Gamma Rho the sisterhood qualities that place it among the most distinguished organizations for African American women. The members of NC State’s Kappa Omega Chapter insist upon upholding the sorority’s tradition of excellence by promoting high academic, moral, and ethical standards. Currently inactive. For more information on how to become a member of the Kappa Omega Chapter, visit the national site at http://www.sgrho1922.org/
