Organization
Society of Afrikan American Culture
Established: April 12, 1968
Purpose
The Society of Afrikan American Culture was organized by and for African Americans and is the oldest such organization on campus. SAAC seeks to inform African American students and faculty/staff of local and campus-wide political issues. SAAC also provides a forum for the concerns of African American students and allows them the opportunity to actively participate in an influential and fulfilling college organization. In conjunction with its political responsibilities, SAAC is also responsible for the maintenance of a sense of heritage at a predominantly white institution through cultural programming and celebration of special events.
