The Chancellor's Blog
As NC State's chancellor, I look forward to a new academic year and a new way of connecting to our campus. This blog offers a place for me to share thoughts, information and ideas about our university and its impact on our community and the world. I welcome your feedback and hope you will check in often.

NC State recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the Hunt Library on Centennial Campus, drawing university constituents, community members and dignitaries from state and local government. It will be an extraordinary facility, housing over 200,000 books and serving the thousands of students, faculty and staff on our campus. The ceremony was a marvelous event that honored the legacy former Governor Jim Hunt has left for all of North Carolina.
Throughout our state’s history, leaders like Jim Hunt have committed themselves to making North Carolina’s higher education system one of the best in the nation. This university is built on the strong leadership and service of our founders in the hopes that their work will help provide opportunities for students generations down the line.
Since arriving at NC State, I am certain that their work was not in vain. Through dinner seminars and student lunches, I have had the opportunity to see the outstanding character and scholarship of a generation ready to shape the world. I am delighted by our students’ enthusiasm and tenacity, which fuels this campus community. Our students are taking advantage of the opportunities and challenges awaiting them here and are prepared to make a difference by drawing from their unique university experiences.
NC State – and, more importantly, this campus community – is of pivotal importance the future well-being of our state. It feels good to know that our students are fulfilling the hopes of previous generations and will leave a legacy for generations ahead.
