James L. Oblinger is NC State University's 13th chancellor. He previously served as NC State's provost and executive vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, and before that he was dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at NC State. As chancellor, Dr. Oblinger is the chief operating officer of the university, responsible for the administration and management of the university. From day to day, those responsibilities may include a meeting with executive officers or stopping in to support student activities on campus.
