Chancellor Oblinger Participates in Global Development Summit

On April 29 and 30, Chancellor Oblinger traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Higher Education Summit for Global Development, hosted by the United States Department of State.  Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings initiated the invitation-only event, with the goal of expanding the role and impact of higher education institutions worldwide in social and economic development.  The event highlighted innovative approaches and best practices of existing strategies and partnerships that build educational capacity, expand research, and encourage the exchange and application of technology in developed and developing countries.  Chancellor Oblinger was among a select few to attend the summit, during which five United States Cabinet secretaries spoke to higher education representatives from around the world.
