Call for Papers | Pedido de ensayos

A Contracorriente welcomes essays, notes, interviews and review-essays on Latin American studies. Our aim is to go against the current of poststructuralist and postmodernist theories by returning to grounded left-wing (and preferably Marxist) analyses of culture, history, politics and society. We hope to foster debate and discussion within this tradition, specific studies of concrete cultural, historical, political and/or literary contexts, and critiques of the relativist trends in the humanities.

A Contracorriente acepta ensayos, notas, entrevistas y críticas sobre los estudios latinoamericanos. Nuestro objetivo es ir a contracorriente de las teorías postestructuralistas y postmodernistas al volver a contundentes análisis izquierdistas (y preferiblemente marxistas) de la cultura, la historia, la política y la sociedad. Se espera alentar intercambios de ideas y debates dentro de esta tradición, estudios específicos sobre determinados contextos históricos, culturales y literarios, y críticas de las tendencias relativistas en la crítica literaria y la historiografía..

Forthcoming issues | Números a publicarse

En el otoño del 2009 publicaremos un número sobre el siglo XIX en América Latina, edición a cargo de Ana Peluffo. El cierre del número del invierno es el 15 de octubre. / In the fall (2009) we will publish a special issue, edited by Ana Peluffo, on the 19th century in Latin America. The deadline for the winter issue is October 15th.
