Philosophy

Since Editorial A Contracorriente is a non-profit organization, we sell our books-on-demand at the price it costs to produce them. There are no royalties for authors nor are there profits for the publisher. We are able to accomplish this via our publishing and distribution partners.

Once the manuscripts have been reviewed by readers and approved for final publication, we send a PDF version of the manuscript, front cover and back cover to our publishing partner, which then takes care of the printing and binding of the paperback book. Our publishing and distribution partners handle the rest of the process, including distribution, order processing, billing and shipping.

Once the book is ready, interested readers can find it on Lulu.com, Amazon.com and other online retailers and purchase it as they would any book on that site with the available payment methods, and the retailer will deliver it.

History

Founded in 2003 as a refereed, electronic journal designed to stimulate left-wing sociohistorical analyses of Latin American literature and to counteract the relativism present in poststructuralism and postmodernism, our publicationA Contracorriente evolved, shortly thereafter, as a journal dedicated to Latin American studies. Editorial A Contracorriente was founded seven years later, in 2010, aiming to continue in our journal’s footsteps of fostering intellectual debate about Latin American politics, history, economics, literature and culture from a left-wing point of view.
