Description
The Minor in Feed Milling is designed to provide a foundation in animal
feed milling technology. The objectives of the minor are for the student
to: acquire an understanding of the functions of a modern feed mill; to
learn to procedures to assist in operating a feed mill; and to apply academic
skills to the challenges of operating a manufacturing facility.
Requirements
A minimum of 15 credit hours from the prescribed list of courses and
a grade of 'C-' or better in these courses is required to receive the
Minor in Feed Milling. An overall GPA of 2.0 is required to pursue and
graduate from the minor.

All students are required to take one of the following introductory
courses in Poultry or Animal Science:

201 Poultry Science and Production (4cr.)
- ANS
150 Introduction to Animal Science (4 cr).

101 Intro. To Biological Engineering and Computing (3cr.)

(ANS) 425 Feed Mill Management and Feed Formulation (3 cr.)
- PO
(ANS/BAE) 492 External Learning Experience (2-3 cr.)
This requirement is for the student to work one summer in a feed mill.

Students interested in this minor can contact any of the following

The application for the minor is available in any of the following
offices:
- 101 Polk (Animal Science),
- 108 Weaver (Biological and Agricultual Engineering) or
- 212/213 Scott (Poultry Science).
Certification
Certification for Minor in Feed Milling must be submitted to Dr. Carmen
Parkhurst , 213 Scott Hall, no later than the registration period for
the student's final semester at NC State. The minor must be completed
no later than the semester in which the student expects to graduate
from his or her degree program.
