Description

The objective of the Minor in Zoology is to provide students with a solid foundation of zoological concepts, including diversity of the animal kingdom, morphology, physiology, evolution, behavior, and ecology. Laboratory experiences are an integral part of the minor, as all three courses at the introductory level have required weekly laboratories.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 credit hours.
  • A grade of a 'C-' or better is necessary in each of the three required courses.
  • The remaining 3 hrs are selected from 3- or 4-credit Zoology courses at the 300 level or above.

Required Courses

ZO150 Animal Diversity-- with lab (4 cr)
ZO250 Animal Anatomy and Physiology-- with lab (4 cr)
ZO260 Evolution, Behavior and Ecology-- with lab (4 cr)

Elective Courses

One (1) 300-level or above zoology course. (3 or 4 cr)

Admissions and Certification of Minor

The student must complete the form “Application for Minor,” which is available in 2115 Gardner Hall. The form must be completed no later than the second week of classes in the semester in which the student expects to graduate from his or her degree program. Students will receive official recognition on their university transcripts for the completed minor. The minor is not available to majors within the Zoology Department: Biological Sciences (BLS), Fisheries and Wildlife (SFF, SFW) and Environmental Science - Ecology Concentration (ESC).
