March 2008 • John Cosgrove
Cosgrove is a graduating senior in electrical engineering and computer engineering, and he is in his second semester on staff. “In all the chaotic mess that are the Student Media offices, we still produce some of the best publications in the country, and I’m proud to work for them,” John Cosgrove said.

Campaigning for student body president, John Mickey, junior in business management, prepares to clean a screen that he just used to print a custom shirt in the Brickyard Tuesday. "We just want to get students engaged, and we want to help students care. If it's handing out cookies or printing them a free T-shirt, then that's what we'll do... we had about 100 people sign up on facebook to bring shirts," Mickey said. Mickey hopes to screen print shirts in the Brickyard again in the future
Kelly Kronenwetter and Alison Miller, both seniors in civil engineering and constriction management, remove paint from a downtown raleigh house Saturday as part of a Service Raleigh project. Kronenwetter and Miller were a few of the Associated General Contractors student chapter members working on the project, which consisted of scraping and repainting an elderly woman's home. The homeowner received a grant from the city of Raleigh for the supplies, and service raleigh participants provided the labor for the project. "We wanted to get our student organization involved in Service Raleigh...we were really happy in what we were able to do," Miller said.
Struggling for the ball with only minutes left in the game, senior forward Gavin Grant is overwhelmed by three Wake Forest players in N.C. State's eighth straight ACC loss on Saturday. Grant was 5 for 7 from the floor, and hit all four of his free throws, but it wasn't enough to help the Wolfpack catch up to the Demon Deacons' final eleven point lead, ending the game 78 to 67.

January 2008 • Dreier Carr
Dreier is a freshman in electrical engineering and he is in his second semester on staff. "Dreier is an ambitious shooter with a lot of natural talent. He constantly shows improvement and potential in all his work," Rob Fisher, photo editor for the Technician, said.

September 2007 • Stephen Bateman
Stephen is a junior in engineering and in his second year on staff. “Stephen has shown a real dedication to the paper this month, stepping up whenever he's been needed,” Josh Harrell, Technician editor, said. Bateman has taken a lot of pictures and has been assessible to help to train new photographers.

A master bee keeper Larry Green Jr. of the Wake County Beekeepers Association does his bearded lady act for the fifth year at Bugfest where he covers his face in bees. He does this act to teach kids to not be afraid of bees and to help bring public awarness about honey bees. Number seven Chantalle Dugas attempts to steal the ball in Sept. 23, 2007 game against Virginia Commonwealth where the Wolfpack won 1-0. Navy ROTC meet in the Brickyard today for drill. Among the cadets Cari Laue, a junior majoring in spanish education, stands at attention along side her fellow cadets.

Chris is a senior in aerospace engineering and in his second year on staff. “Chris has made himself available to the publications,” Photo Editor Josh Lawson said. “His quality of work has been spot on.”

October 2006 • Rob Fisher
Fisher is a junior in aplied mathematics and has already represented Student Media at teaching conferences in Washington, D.C. and St. Louis. According to Bradley Wilson, Student Media adviser, "Rob is a good shooter with a good sense of humor. He may not be the best, yet, but he's learning a lot."

Jordan Reed, a sophomore in mechanical engineering, dribbles past potential teammates during Men's Club Soccer tryouts Monday. This is Reed's second year playing with the team. "It's going well, and we're having a good time," Reed said. Outside Fountain Dining Hall, Lanatria Brackett, a freshman in Chemistry, takes her chances with the mechanical bull. "The people are real nice," Brackett said of NCSU, "and the food is OK." Grabbing a hold, Tom Felling, a senior in political science, makes his way up Charmichael Gym's rock wall. Felling said he comes to climb once or twice a week. Josh Hines, a junior in communications, plays a G chord in his apartment off campus.
 

September 2006 • Matt O’Bryant
O'Bryant is a senior in arts applications and has worked for the Technician before this year as a designer, but this year he began taking photos. According to Pete Ellis, Technician photography editor, "Matt is one hell-of-a-guy. I know I can count on him to come back with high quality images."

Outside Price Music Center Monday night, Chad Suggs, a junior in biological sciences paints "Peace of Wood" with Robert Harris, a graduate in electrical engineering, to honor Thursday's International Peace Day. Suggs, the Tzedek (Hebrew word for "justice") chair for Hillel@NCSU, has formed a coalition between Hillel, the Muslim Student Association, and Baha'i. The coalition painted signs that will be in the Brickyard Thursday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. for students to sign and show their respect for Peace Day. Suggs said this is a way of getting people connected. "You aim for everybody," Suggs said. "But how that works out..." After baking about $3 worth of clay, Lauren Wellborn, a senior in environmental engineering, polishes her newly formed dragon in the Crafts Center. Though she began her pottery work in high school creating mostly tea pots, recently she's dabbled in animal pottery. Since then, her animals — which in addition to the dragon include a chicken, a man, and a dinosaur — have really taken off. "I would make inanimate objects, like tables or ovens, but they're not exciting," Wellborn said. "So I make dragons." As rain poors down outside on the last night of Shack-a-thon, Joe Sevits, a junior in computer science, hangs a light with the assistance of Patrick Johnson, a junior in chemical engineering, in the shack sponsored by IRC and Delta Upsilon. The shack dwellers brought in a car battery connected to a power inverter to bring electricity into their shack. Painting his roommate Alex Pyun, a sophomore in industrial engineering, artist Andrew Zimmerman, a sophomore in biology, checks his photographic rough draft. Zimmerman said he took 100's of photos of his roommates to use as a starting point for creating a mural of him and his roommates on his homemade beer-pong table. Zimmerman took the photos and then "leaned them down and edited them in Photoshop."

Jon is a freshman in mechanical engineering. According to Will Alligood, yearbook photography editor, "He's a good photographer who is enthusiastic about shooting. He has a strong desire to improve."

Behind the N.C. Museum of Art, Brett Fisher, a junior in landscape horticulture, prepares a glass ball for placement in the museum's pond. Along with 400 reeds of bamboo, Fisher and his classmates placed over 100 glass balls in the pond behind the museum to complement the arrival of the Monet exhibit in October. Football team players and coach Chuck Amato wait at the gates of the stadium, held back by head coach Chuck Amatto. The Pack took on Appalachian State this past weekend and came up with the Victory, 23- 10. Sophomore runningback Andre Brown fights for yardage against a struggling Appalachian defense. Brown ran for 125 yards in Saturday nights against Appalachian. "Super" seniors, Justin Lefler and Scott Lee flip burgers while they man the green monster BBQ at Chillin and Grillin at Tucker Beach, Aug. 23. Lefler, a crop science major, and Lee, a business management major, are also fraternity brothers at Farmhouse. "We can't help not getting signed up for this every year, but we like to cook," said Lefler.

According to Nick Pironio, Technician photo editor, "Holly is a hard worker who likes to go out and look for features stories. We can always count on her to bring back some great images no matter what she is shooting."

Andrea Burke, a senior in technology, works in the greenhouses at the Marye Anne Fox Science Teaching Laboratory. Burke removed the buds to prevent the plant from flowering in useless places. Brandon Frye, a Freshmen in Electrical Engineering, tests his rocket on the Lower Millier Field on Tuesday afternoon. An E101 class was firing off their water pressure rockets on Lower Miller Fields. Brian Dunaway. a freshmen in film studies reads for his upcoming exams. A resident in Tucker Hall Dunaway says that his favorite part of his room is his chair "because its right in front of the television and I can study." Ben Warrick, a sophomore in civil engineering, plays cards in Talley's Ballroom, on Wednesday night. Casino night was held by Alpha Delta Pi for the Ronald McDonald House.
 

November 2005 • Anna Gookin
Anna is a freshman in criminology. According to Josh Bassett, Agromeck editor, "Anna is an excellent photographer. She is always enthusiastic about her assignments and is an all-around great person to have on staff."

Giorgina Ciliselli watches in disbelief as Danielle Read tries a chocolate covered cricket at the Night Owl Meals in Fountain Dining Hall. Read, a freshman in First Year College, said that she “couldn’t even taste the cricket. It was just crunchy chocolate to me.” The Night Owl Meals were held during exam week for the students to take a break from studying. Amanda Boykin, a sophomore in communication, paints the window of Melvin’s restaurant. Boykin, a member of Campus Crusade for Christ, helped paint the window as part of homecoming celebrations. During homecoming week, organizations painted different businesses on Hillsborough Street to “Paint the Town Red.” Zach Patterson, a senior in mechanical engineering, listens to the instructor after a workout of Cuong Nhu. Patterson said he practiced the martial arts style because, “It’s a great workout, I’ve met a lot of great people and the commitment gives me focus.” Jonathon LeRay, a freshman in computer engineering, takes a breath before he begins to play to be sure he is on time. LeRay was one of two tuba players in the wind ensemble.

Jeff is a junior in communications. According to Austin Dowd, yearbook photography editor, "He is the man! Jeff has a great understanding of photography, and what the camera can and cannot do. I think his work is proof of that."

William is a sophomore in textiles engineering. According to Dan Ternes, Agromeck photography editor, "Will is an enthusiastic photographer and is always out shooting and improving his skill. The increasing quality of his shots attest to this."

Kevin Averette dribbles in a game against King's College. Elizabeth Daugherty, a sophomore in biochemistry, helps to keep the fans fired up by playing the trombone with the marching band during the football game. Members of the saxophone line, Thomas Sinodis, Will Adcock, Tyson Mooney and Carmen Coates, help to keep the crowd pumped at the football games by playing tunes like the fight song. Freshman forward Lindsay Vera maneuvers the ball around the Oregon defense during a match in Cary.
 

August 2005 • Peyton Holland
Peyton is a freshman in FYC. "Thanks guys, I appreciate the honor of being named photographer of the month. I would just like to thank all of those who helped turn a Canon Sure Shot shoot'n country boy into a half way decent photographer."

Andrea Hernandez, a senior double majoring in math and math education, gets set up for "Sazon", a special event for the Latino population on campus. "We are trying to begin a new tradition to Latino culture on campus," said Hernandez, "and we also want to educate people." Enjoying a hot dog at Friday Fest, Chris Smith said, "Darn right. We're having fun!" when asked if he was having a good time. The early morning hours don't phase Brian Spanner's sense of humor. When asked if he really liked getting up early and running he said, "Running, no. I just like wearing short shorts and stretching." "I heard Service NCSU was a good program, and I did stuff like this in high school, so I wanted to try it out," said Barry Price, a freshman in biological science. Price spent the afternoon helping out at Hunter Elementary School.

August 2005 • Nick Pironio
Nick is a senior in agricultural business management. According to Jeff Reeves, Technician photography editor, "Nick isn't afraid to take any assignment that we throw at him. He is one of our most reliable photographers. He always brings back a solid image."

Mark Henderson, a freshman in environmental engineering, jousts with his girlfriend Jessica Miller, a freshman in biomedical engineering, during Wolfpack Welcome Week. "I enjoyed the fight," Miller said after the win. Holly Aikens has been creating bags for more than three years. She offers customers the opportunity to choose which color or design they want. Holding on as much as he can, the rider tries for that extra second.
 

August 2005 • Rebecca Arnold
Rebecca is a freshman in animal science. According to Austin Dowd, yearbook photography editor, "Both Rebecca and Peyton came in before school started and have shot on a regular basis and continue to produce solid work. We appreciate their dedication."

Sisters of Delta Sigma Theta danced to the music during an event to raise interest in Greek life on campus. Later, they performed in a step show to promote their sorority. John Mayer performs at Alltel Pavillion. At the Meet Your Leaders event Elliot Wenlund plays his sax. He played with his band, Cates Avenue. Senior Hamilton Brown breaks it down at the step show held as part of Wolfpack Welcome Week. He was representing Omega Psi Phi.
 

February 2005 • Rob Bradley
Rob is a sophomore in communications. According to Austin Dowd, yearbook photography editor, "He's a stellar all around photographer who will pick up assignments that no one else will. Rob is always open to criticism and is always willing to learn something new."

Leah Sabo performs a backflip on the balance beam where she scored a 9.9 which helped the Pack score their third highest team score in school history. Rob Wilburn throws his ball trying to hit his opponent's ball in "flail" so his opponent would get a letter in the game similar to H.O.R.S.E. The pool table saw a lot of use throught the day, practically being the center of life in the Phi Delta Theta house ever since the fraternity's big screen TV broke down. Pete Pessango practices his butterfly during swim team practice. Freshman Daniel Humphries puts a world of pain onto Maryland's Dan Scheets in the 184-pound weight class.
 

January 2005 • Matt Robbins
Matt is a senior in communications. According to Austin Dowd, yearbook photography editor, "Matt has picked up a lot of assignments lately and consistently brings back great shots. His work ethic is impeccable and his confidence shows."

Myles Henderson plays four-sqare to keep himself energized into the wee hours of the morning. The Dance Marathon took place from Friday evening to Saturday evening. Ticola Caldwell, a sophomore in psychology, quietly listens to the speakers during the candlelight vigil on the night of World AIDS Day Dec 1. Several students and non-students attended the vigil and spoke about loved ones that had been affected by the disease. David Burkart, a sophomore in biolological sciences, launches his disc to land a par 3. Will Shaw, a junior in business management, holds his ground in doubles to win the set 8-3 against the Charleston Citadels.
 

November 2004 • Nathan Bullen
Nathan is a sophomore in biomedical engineering. According to Austin Dowd, yearbook photography editor, "Both Nathan and Courtney went above and beyond their job titles by producing multiple spreads worth of photos and writing some excellent stories for the book."

Anna Zylicz, a junior in graphic design, focuses on perspective as she works in the design studio for a project due the next morning. Clint Sorrell, a freshman in landscape architecture, translates a piece from color to black and white. Though Clint said he likes to work outside, he finds himself coming to the design studio almost every night. Curtis Kirkhoff, a sophomore in computer science, makes some last minute preparations in the dressing room for the play "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead." Casey Watkins, a junior in zoology, plays the witty and audacious Gertude in the Madrigal Dinner. Casey usually served as the costume mistress but this year found herself acting as well. “They told me, ‘you have to audition because you’re so saucy.’ So I did,” said Watkins.

November 2004 • Courtney Evans
Courtney is a junior in industrial engineering. "Courtney went above and beyond during this last deadline. She picked up two assignments in which she took the photos and wrote the stories," said Josh Bassett, editor. "We greatly appreciate her contributions and enthusiasm."

After taking a bad hit off a jump at the dirt mounds, M.P. Spierer readjusts his shin guards and realigns his handlebar before hitting a few more “table tops” and “superman” tricks. Launching off a ramp at Cary skate park, Nick Soloninka gets some air during a trick. Soloninka rides several times a week at the skate park. Li Chen shows a look of disappointment after being shot out in a preliminary match at Black River Paintball field November 13. “This sport is so exhilarating,” said Chen, a junior in history. “It’s why I love it.” Jon Lipka, a junior in textile engineering and founder of the Paintball Club, aims and fires aggressively during a match in late November. Lipka said that he is very happy with the turnout so far, and hopes the group continues to grow and develop as a team.

Matt is a senior in communications. According to Austin Dowd, yearbook photography editor, "Matt is a consistent shooter. He is always open to criticism and shows improvement on a daily basis. He brings a very positive attitude to the staff."

Patrick Blackley, a junior in business management, completes his intense workout with crunches. "I don't like to be bored, so, instead of sitting around my room doing nothing and watching TV, I come here." Rolette Simmons performs the opening steps to a dance to Michael Jackson's "Keep it in the Closet" during Dance Vision's 27th annual spring concert. Candice Scheffing pats mulch firmly around a tree off of Western Blvd. as part of her Service Raleigh volunteer work. Candice, who participated in Service Raleigh as part of the Graduate Student Association, decided to volunteer "just because." Stewart Lowry, a freshman in biomedical engineering, dances in the men's fancy dance during the annual Native American Powwow held in front of Witherspoon Student Center. Lowry has been fancy dancing ever since he was 3 years old.
 

January 2004 • Pete Ellis
Pete is a freshmen in engineering. According to Austin Dowd, yearbook photography editor, "He's extremely dedicated to what he does. He works without complaining and is a consistent shooter. He's open-minded to critiques. And he's got a great phone voice."

Many people came for the mayoral and city council debates that occured in Witherspoon cinema Oct. 1, 2003. Andy Petters, political science senior, cheers on the N.C. State basketball team at The Big Event in Reynolds gymnasium. The annual NCSU Madrigal Dinner was held Nov. 19 in the Talley Student Center. Smiling big for the camera, Thomas Keech has his picture taken to produce a new student ID. The campus' switch from Social Security numbers to new nine-digit ID numbers require a complete re-issue of ID cards to all students, faculty, and staff.
