The Parents’ Fund provides critical dollars
for a multitude of outstanding and far-reaching programs and services
within Student Affairs. Below are just a few examples of where
Parents’ Fund monies have been directed to in past years:
The University Career Center offers assistance to students with
choosing majors and careers, developing resumes and cover letters,
preparing for interviews, researching internships, and applying
to graduate school.
The Center for Student Leadership, Ethics, and Public Service provides
unique learning opportunities for NC State students that teach
the importance and value of service, responsible citizenship, and
ethics. The Center delivers quality programs in a variety of formats:
workshops, conferences, service projects, volunteer opportunities,
and individual consultations.
The Department of Multicultural Student Affairs
researches, designs, and implements unique programs that promote
the pursuit of academic success, retention, and graduation of students,
with an emphasis on African American, Native American, and Hispanic
students. Many of the programs and services expand students’ cultural
horizon while honoring their respective cultural experiences.
Campus recreation is an important aspect of the NC State student
experience. Most NC State students take advantage of one or more
of the many campus recreational opportunities available. The popular
Carmichael Gymnasium, a 330,000 sq. ft facility, is home to two
pools, racquetball courts, weight rooms, aerobic and dance studios,
basketball courts, tennis courts, steam room, sauna, and an equipment
room. In addition, there are 17 team and individual intramural
sports and 41 club sports, which provide outstanding athletic and
social opportunities.
Student Health Services exists to provide affordable, accessible,
and high quality primary health care to those eligible for services,
and provide a comprehensive disease-prevention and health promotion
program to the NC State community.
