CAUTION: The steps in this process will leave you without antivirus protection. Make sure that you are not connected to the Internet while you perform the following procedure.
These are instructions for uninstalling Symantec AntiVirus from Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.
- Close any open applications before you continue.
- Click on the Start button (usually in the lower left corner of your screen).
- Select Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.

- Scroll down and highlight Norton AntiVirus or Symantec AntiVirus.
- Click on Remove.

- When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove this program, select Yes.
- You will be prompted to decide if you want to restart your computer now. Choose No, since you will be uninstalling another program first.

- Scroll to LiveUpdate and highlight it.
- Click on Remove.

- Confirm that you want to remove the program by selecting Yes.
- When the program has been uninstalled, you will receive a confirmation message. Select OK.
- Restart your computer.
