25 Yard Pool

25 Yard Pool

This pool was built in 1960 and is our primary instructional pool. The pool is 25 yards by 25 meters. The depth ranges from 4 feet to 13 feet. This pools holds 350,000 gallons of water. Aquatic courses taught in this pool include PE 104 - Swim Conditioning, PE 214 - Beginning Swimming, PE 215 - Advanced Beginning Swimming, PE 221 - Intermediate Swimming, PE 226 - Skin & Scuba Diving I, PE 227 - Skin & Scuba Diving II, PE 228 - Springboard Diving, and PE 229 - Open Water Training for Skin & Scuba Diving. Because this pool is the primary instructional pool for beginning swimming and for the scuba classes the water temperature is normally between 84 to 86 degrees. This pool is also the home of the NC State Swimming & Diving Teams. It is cooled off to 81 degrees for NC State swim meets.The balcony that surrounds the pool deck seats approximately 500 spectators.

 

 

50 Meter Pool

50 Meter Pool

This pool was built in 1980 and is our primary recreational/lap pool. The pool is 25 yards by 50 meters. The depth ranges from 4 feet to 7 feet. This pools holds 420,000 gallons of water. Aquatic courses taught in this pool include PE 103- Water Aerobics, PE 106 - Triathlon, PE 108- Water Step Aerobics, PE 223 - Lifeguard Training, and PE 224 - Water Safety Instructor. This pool is also use for long course training by the NC State SwimmingTeam. Since this pool primary hosts activities that are very active in nature the pool temperature is kept between 82 and 84 degrees.

 

Wet Classroom

Wet Classroom

The wet classroom is used for aquatic classes that need to be able to come in to receive instruction via lecture, video, etc. and then be able to return to the pool for skill acquisition. The classroom has approximately 20 plastic desks and also has a drain in th floor.

 

Sun Deck

Sun Deck

The sun deck, which is next to the 50-meter pool, is a great place to relax on a beautiful sunny day.
