Professor of Military Science LTC Carol Ann Redfield Lieutenant Colonel Carol Ann Redfield was born in New York on 21 January 1966. She graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in International Relations in 1988. Upon graduation, LTC Redfield received a Regular Army commission in the Ordnance Corps.
LTC Redfield’s military and civilian schooling include: Jungle Warfare School, 1986; Ordnance Officer Basic Course, 1988; US Army Airborne School, 1988; Ordnance Officer Advanced Course, 1992; Combined Arms and Services Staff School, 1995; a Master’s of Public Administration from North Carolina State University, 1998; Jumpmaster Course, 2000; Command and General Staff College, 2001; Naval War College with a Masters of Arts in National Security and S trategic Studies, 2003.
LTC Redfield’s assignments include: Platoon Leader, 56th Repair Parts Supply Company; Automotive Platoon Leader and Maintenance Control Officer, 149th Maintenance Company, Hanau, Germany; Battalion Maintenance Officer, 142nd Signal Battalion; Commander, 602nd Maintenance Company, Fort Hood, Texas. Senior Military Instructor MSG Samuel Carlson MSG Samuel D. Carlson entered the Army on 18 July 1984, and attended OUST at Ft Knox Ky as an Armored Crewman. MSG Carlson has served in every leadership position from Tank Gunner to First Sergeant. His assignments include HHC/B co 2nd Bn 34th Armor Ft Riley Ks (1985-1989); Tank Commander, D co 1st Sqdn 2nd ARC Binlach Germany (1989-1992); Platoon Sergeant, B trp 1st Sqdn 16th Cavalry Ft Knox Ky (1992-1996); Platoon Sergeant, B co 2nd Bn 72nd Armor Camp Casey Korea ( 1996-1997); Platoon Sergeant, D co 1st Bn 32nd Armor Ft Lewis Wa (1997-1999): Observer Controller, Cobra Team, National Training Center Ft Irwin Ca. (1999-2001); First Sergeant K trp 2nd Sqdn 16th Cavalry (2001-2003); First Sergeant D co and HHC 1st Bn 72nd Armor Camp Casey Korea (2003-2007). Currently he serves as the Senior Military Instructor in the North Carolina State ROTC program. Training Officer MAJ (R) William Medley Major Bill Medley attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas on an Army ROTC Scholarship and earned a B.A. in Political Science with a cumulative 3.3 GPA in 1980. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry and since then has served with distinction in a variety of command, staff and leadership assignments in the US Army. Assignment History: 1980-1984. After completing Airborne School, the Infantry Officer Basic Course and Ranger School, Major Medley was first assigned to the 82d Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Anti-Tank Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer with the 2d Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment (Airborne) from 1980-1984. During this initial tour of duty, Major Medley trained in various locations in the US, Germany, Panama and Egypt. He also deployed with the 82d Airborne for Operation Urgent Fury during the US invasion of Grenada in October 1983. 1984-1990. After his promotion to Captain, Major Medley was assigned to Fort Benning, Georgia from 1984-1988. During this time, he graduated with honors from the Infantry Officer Advanced Course, trained new second lieutenants in the Infantry Officer Basic Course, commanded an airborne training company and served as Chief of the US Army Pathfinder Course. He earned Distinguished Student honors at the Combined Armed Services Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Afterwards, Major Medley was assigned to the 2d Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea and commanded the division’s Long Range Surveillance Detachment (LRSD) for 18 months in 1989-1990. 1991-1995. Major Medley was promoted to Major, and then served in Germany from 1991-1995. He first served as a Force Modernization Officer with Headquarters, US Army Europe and 7th Army in Heidelberg. Following this, he performed duties as the base community Operations/Security Officer and also as the Community Commander, 409th Area Support Team, Vilseck. During his time in Germany, Major Medley conducted other missions in Italy, Hungary, Belgium, The Czech Republic and Sardinia. 1995-2000. Following his tour of duty in Germany, Major Medley served as a Senior Trainer for the 41st Separate Infantry Brigade (Enhanced) in Portland, Oregon from 1995-1997. He then was assigned to the Persian Gulf area, and served as a Senior Advisor and Trainer of the Saudi Arabian National Guard (Operations, Intelligence) in Jeddah, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 1997-2000. He retired from active duty in June 2000 after 20 years of service. 2000-present. Major Medley joined the Wolfpack Army ROTC Battalion in August 2000. He was the Enrollment and Recruiting Officer for four years, and is currently the Training and Operations Officer. During this time, he earned a Master’s of Arts Liberal Studies (Phi Kappa Phi honors) with a concentration in International Relations in May 2005 from North Carolina State University. Military Education and Training. During his Army service, Major Medley completed a variety of training and leadership courses. Recruiting Operations Officer MAJ Jefferey Robertson Major Jeff Robertson is a Distinguished Military Graduate from North Carolina State University's Army ROTC program where he graduated Magna Cume Laude in 1995 with a bachelors of arts degree in political science. Upon graduation, Major Robertson received a Regular Army commission in the Infantry. Following his completion of Ranger School, Major Robertson was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. From December 1996 to September 2000, he served as a rifle and scout platoon leader, headquarters and headquarters company executive officer, aide-de-camp to BG (Ret.) John R. Schmader and interim aide-de-camp to Gen. David Petraeus. Deployments during this time included five CTC rotations, two one-month long tours in Kuwait, and a six-month tour in Panama as part of a civil disturbance task force. From September 2000 to July 2001, Major Robertson attended the Infantry Career Course and Bradley Fighting Vehicle Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was then assigned to 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Hovey Korea as the war plans and exercises officer until July 2002. Following his tour in Korea, Major Robertson returned to the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment from September 2002 to April of 2004. During this time, Major Robertson served as the Regiment's Day Battle Captain in Afghanistan and commanded A Company, 3rd Battalion, 505th PIR in Iraq. In June 2004, Major Robertson was assigned to 4th Brigade (TSB), 78th Division, Fort Bragg, NC as an assistant current operations officer responsible for the training of National Guard and Reserve units mobilizing in support of the OIF and OEF. In July 2005, Major Robertson was assigned to NC State Army ROTC. Major Robertson is currently assigned as NCSU's Army ROTC Enrollment and Scholarship Officer. He is pursuing a Master of Arts and Liberal Studies with a concentration in the Middle East and Communications. Executive Officer MAJ Edward Wallace MAJ Edward J. Wallace is a Distinguished Military Graduate from Salisbury University in Maryland. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps in May 1997. Upon completion of the Transportation Officer Basic Course he was assigned to the 1st Corps Support Command (A) Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He served as a Platoon Leader with 126th Transportation Company, 7th Transportation Battalion. He also served as Battalion S4 and Battalion S1 with the Headquarters, 7th Transportation Battalion. MAJ Wallace completed the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course in April of 2002 and was assigned to the 501st Corps Support Group (F) at Camp Red Cloud, Korea where he served as the Group Plans Officer. He was then reassigned in July of 2003 to the 45th Corps Support Group (F) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii where he served as the Group Transportation Officer. MAJ Wallace commanded HHD, LTF 524 and the 87th Quartermaster Detachment (Parachute) during its deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – V from March 2004 – March 2005. The unit initially deployed to K2 Airbase, Uzbekistan and later moved forward to FOB Salerno, Afghanistan in support of the 25th Infantry Division (L) and other coalition forces operating in the area. Upon redeployment, MAJ Wallace was reassigned as the Group S4 for the 45th Corps Support Group (F) during the unit transformation to 8th Theater Sustainment Command. He was then reassigned to North Carolina State University as an Assistant Professor of Military Science where he currently serves. MS II Instructor MAJ Drew Fetherston MAJ Fetherston was born in Huntington, NY. He graduated from Smithtown High School East on Long Island in May 1992, and subsequently attended Boston College, MA, where he graduated in 1996 with a B.A. in History. He was commissioned through the Army ROTC program into U.S. Army Reserve in the Military Intelligence Branch. His assignments include Platoon Leader, 372nd Military Intelligence(MI) Company, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD; Assistant S-2, 448th Civil Affairs Battalion, Fort Lewis, WA; S-2, Division Support Command, 1st Armored Division, Wiesbaden, Germany (with 13 months in Iraq); Company Commander, HHC, 3747th Multi-Functional Training Brigade, Grafenwohr, Germany; and S-3, 6th MI Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne School(1993), MI Officer Basic Course (1998), USMC Mountain Warfare Training School (2000), Air Assault School (2001), MI Captains Career Course & Combined Arms Staff and Service School (2001), and U.S. Army Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape School (2002). MAJ Fetherston earned the Combat Action Badge for actions in North Babil Province, Iraq in October, 2003. He is married to fellow U.S. Army Captain(P) Kristin M. Fetherston of West Point, NY. They have two children, Owen and Sophie.

Assistant Recruiting Operations Officer MAJ Dennis Connor Major Dennis Connor was born in Camden, New Jersey and graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. Major Connor began his military career by volunteering for the draft and served as a helicopter crew chief/door gunner in the 336th Assault Helicopter Company, 13th Combat Aviation Battalion, 1st Aviation Brigade in the Republic of Viet Nam. Following his service in Viet Nam Major Connor enlisted in Pennsylvania Army National Guard 1st Battalion 108th Field Artillery, 28th Infantry Division. He attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned Field Artillery. He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course and the Field Artillery Officer Advance Course at Fort Sill Oklahoma. Major Connor served in a variety of positions including Arial Observer, 28th Infantry Division Artillery, Battery Fire Direction Officer and Battery Executive Officer, C Battery, 1st Battalion 108th Field Artillery. He also served as Mortar Platoon Leader and Rifle Company Executive Officer, A Company, 1st Battalion 111th Infantry. Major Connor held several positions in the North Carolina Army National Guard including Special Weapons Courier Officer, Service Battery 5th Battalion 113th Field Artillery Brigade, Battery Commander Service Battery 5th Battalion 113th Field Artillery Brigade. His battalion and Brigade level assignments were Battalion S1, Battalion Fire Direction Officer 5th Battalion 113th Field Artillery Brigade and Brigade S1 113th Field Artillery Brigade. His awards and decorations include the Air Medal (14 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal and Crewmember (Aviation) Badge. |
