PAINTING YOUR SUMMER GARDEN IN WATERCOLOR painting of summer flowers

Instructor: Laura Azzi

No previous experience necessary. There is charm and lavish color in any summer garden whether in a hanging basket, terra cotta pot, or inside those perfect borders of contained beds. Summer gardens offer an opportunity to paint with the freedom of movement as a slight summer breeze catches the flower and to explore lavish colors of morning pastels and golden sunset hues captured in the petals. We will walk through a flower and its leaves each week.  The following are suggested flowers we will address: Geranium – stunning tonal contrasts; Clematis – a winding vine of oriental flavor; Black-eyed Susan – brilliant yellow against stark black; Hydrangea – symmetrical, romantic flower heads; Day Lily – prayerful grace at the start of the day. Students are responsible for providing their own supplies and will receive a supply list upon registration. (If you have no supplies on hand, expect to pay
$35 – $45 for supplies at a local art supply store.)  See Laura’s paintings at www.lauraazzi.com.
