Reconnect Program is looking for former student athletes
What is NC State’s Reconnect Program?
History
NC State’s Reconnect Program officially began in January of 2008 and is managed by the Academic Support Program for Student Athletes. The Reconnect Program is an earned- aid program designed to help former student athletes return to school to complete their degrees. Students who have exhausted their athletic eligibility are eligible for the program and are selected for enrollment based on financial need and the likelihood of completing their degree. In exchange for funds covering tuition, fees and books, students work throughout the semester with a local humanitarian or non-profit organization.
Community Service
Earned-aid recipients are actively serving the community through non-profit organizations including the Raleigh Boys and Girls Teen Center, the Garner YMCA, and the NC State Athletic Department. There are also additional organizations that recipients can earn aid. There are both part-time and full-time enrollment options. The part-time enrollment requires 75 hours and full-time requires 150 hours over the course of a semester or summer session.
Funding
The Reconnect Program is made possible through the NCAA and academic institutions who are members of the National Consortium for Academics and Sports. Earned-aid funding for the 2009 fall semester has been provided by financial donations to the NC State’s Wolfpack Club.
