ASPSA welcomes West Millbrook
Students received at W-B by a panel of student athletes.
On Thursday, March 26, 2009 ASPSA hosted twenty students and their advisors from the AVID Program at West Millbrook Middle School at NCSU Wiesiger-Brown Auditorium. This event was coordinated by External Relations Coordinator, Mrs. Glenda Johnson. They were welcomed by Philip Moses, Executive Director of ASPSA. The students were moved by an powerful motivational speech from the Volleyball Coach, Charita Stubbs. Coach Stubbs shared her life experiences and reminded them that they can be successful even with obstacles in their lives. Five student athletes served on a panel to share their transition from Middle School, to High School to NC State. The students were given an opportunity to ask questions. They encouraged the students to keep their grades up as they balance grades and their every day lives. The athletes concluded their visit with the students with a guided tour of the campus. The students were also given a presentation by Dr. Len Annetta, Science Education, on "Video Gaming". The trip was concluded with a presentation by ASPSA's Assistant Director, Mr. Demetrius Marlowe.
