Maria comes to NCSU after spending two years at the University of Memphis as an Athletic Academic Counselor for men's basketball, men's and women's golf, and rifle. Prior to her time at Memphis, she earned her M.Ed. in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Florida and worked as a graduate intern in the Office of Student Life for Athletics in addition to completing a yearlong internship at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis. A native of Tarboro, NC, Maria received her bachelor's degree from UNC-Greensboro in 2000. Maria is single and resides in Raleigh.
- The three best movies that she has seen are The Shawshank Redemption, The Sound of Music and Boomerang.
- If able to change anything about herself, she wouldn't change anything.
- In her spare time she travels and sleeps.
- Her fondest childhood memories are of the Christmas Eve parties at her grandmother's house.
