Phil Moses
A native of Corinth, New York, Phil played basketball while earning his Associate's degree from Paul Smith's College. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in physical education at State University of New York (SUNY) in Cortland and finished his education with a Master's degree in reading at SUNY-Albany.
Phil boasts a broad professional background in education. From 1980-1981, he served as a tutor and advisor to the children of New York Governor Hugh Carey. He spent two years at a private high school in Puerto Rico, serving as the school's principal the second year. Phil returned to the mainland United States in 1984 and headed west to become a reading specialist for two public school systems in Arizona. He moved into athletics five years later, taking a position as an academic advisor and tutorial coordinator at Arizona State University. After two years in Tempe, AZ, Phil moved to College Station, TX, where he served as a scholastic supervisor and tutorial coordinator for five years at Texas A&M before coming to NC State. He is a Past President of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics. Phil is now in his fourteenth year as Director of Academic Support Program for Student Athletes at NC State.
Phil is married to Barbara, and they have two children: Darren and Tess.
