What We Do
The PAC program consists of a coordinator and graduate assistants who specialize in developing individualized academic support plans for student-athletes with learning challenges. The PAC Program staff provides information to other staff members and students on study skills and strategies that include memory and concentration, test-taking, note-taking, effective reading, and time management. Additionally, PAC staff members assist in training tutors on how to work effectively with different learning styles.
Help students:
. take responsibility of their own academics (study habits)
. understand their learning strategies and ways they can improve
. learn how to learn
. identify and achieve their goals
. increase their self-esteem
. understand their learning disability (if diagnosed)
. with the Disability Services for Students process (if accepted)
. Provide referral service for diagnostic testing
. Conduct informal testing with students
. Meet one-on-one with targeted students at least twice a week
. Identify learning strategies of each student and offer suggestions for improvements
. Develop an educational support plan for each student in the PAC Program tailored to his/her needs
. Communicate daily with academic coordinators about students enrolled in the PAC Program
. Introduce the Kurzweil software program for specific students
