UAP
Academic Support Unit Process Guidelines
Academic Support Units
in Undergraduate Academic Programs participate fully in the UAPR
process. The administrative guidelines are as follows:
Assessment
Plans:
Each Fall, the assessment coordinator for each unit provides a report
(either word processor or TracDat) to the Division of Undergraduate
Academic Programs Assessment Team with the outcomes (including student
learning outcomes) to be measured in the coming academic year. The
assessment
plan should include outcomes that are measured every year as
well as any new outcomes added. When appropriate, it should also
include measurements for the assessment of decisions documented
in the last Assessment Impact Report.
The Assessment
Plan is reviewed by the Assessment Team using the UAPR
rubric. Feedback is provided to the program assessment coordinator
within six weeks after receiving the plan. The plans may also be
reviewed by the Director of Assessment, Assistant Dean, Associate
Dean, and/or Dean of Undergraduate Academic Programs.
Assessment
Impact Reports:
Each Fall,
the assessment coordinator for each unit provides a report (either
word processor or TracDat) to the Assessment Team demonstrating
how their unit used information gathered during assessment in the
previous year to make important decisions regarding their program.
This report may include the following types of decisions:
- decisions to continue
with current practices,
- decisions to expand
upon projects that are doing exceptionally well,
- decisions to improve
the program based on data that indicates a need for improvement,
- decisions to continue
to assess in order to gather more information before changes are
defined,
- decisions to change
the mission, objectives, or outcomes for the unit, and
- decisions
to improve the assessment process.
The report should include
the observation made, a summary of the data from which the observation
came, and the ensuing decision.
The Assessment Impact Report is reviewed by the Assessment Team
using the UAPR
rubric and feedback is provided to the program assessment coordinator
within two weeks. The plans may also be reviewed by the Director
of Assessment, Assistant Dean, Associate Dean, and/or Dean of Undergraduate
Academic Programs. Feedback from the unit supervisor about program
quality as well as review quality is provided to the unit director.
Mid-Semester
updates:
The assessment coordinator for each unit provides a brief update
during Assessment Team meetings indicating each unit's progress
on the year's assessment process and any assistance they need to
continue to move forward.
