The University Space Committee endorsed the following goals on June 16, 2010:
- Provide a minimum of one specified lactation room in each campus neighborhood:
- Most locations will have dual-use rooms that can be scheduled
- Major public use buildings (eg. libraries, student centers) will have dedicated, conveniently located baby care rooms for use by either parent
- Incorporate lactation room requirements into the NCSU Design and Construction Guidelines
- All new buildings shall have one baby care room, as appropriate
- Interim solutions: identify conference rooms of offices in each neighborhood, concentrating first on locations with a higher proportion of women
- Long term solutions: obtain University Space Committee approval for dedicating space in existing buildings as necessary
