Qualifications
To be
considered for a Beckman Scholarship, you must:
(1)
be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.A.;
(2) be an NC State undergraduate student with
a declared major in Biochemistry, Biology, Botany, Chemistry,
Chemical
Engineering, Microbiology, or Zoology;
(3) be a junior or senior as of the beginning
of summer 2007;
(4) be able and willing to engage in a long-term
independent research project with one of the Beckman
mentors working full-time in Summer 2007 and Summer 2008 and half-time
during the 2007-2008 Academic Year (You
must commit to a continuous summer-academic
year-summer experience. Note that if you plan to graduate in
May 2008
that you can still participate since the second summer can
be after
graduation);
(5) be able to accept the scholarship funds
for all terms (both summers and academic semesters);
(6) commit to attending the Beckman Scholar
national meeting (July 2007 and July 2008);
(7) have a passionate interest in research.
Please note that these minimum requirements are not negotiable.
