BioSUCCEED: Bioproducts Sustainability, a University Cooperative Center for Excellence in Education
North Carolina State University, North Carolina Agricultural State University, and the University of Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station have developed a partnership funded by USDA to pursue an academic program in biomass for graduated and undergraduate students.
BioSUCCEED: BioProducts Sustainability, a University Cooperative Center for Excellence in Education will foster the development of trained personnel who will take an active role in the biomass economy of tomorrow.
SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS
-
BioResources: BioResources is a peer-reviewed online journal devoted to the science and engineering of lignocellulosic materials, chemicals, and their applications for new uses and new capabilities. Articles can be searched on scholarly databases. The journal is an output of the work arising from BioSUCCEED. It is Edited by two of the PIs from NCSU (Lucia & Hubbe) and promotes the dissemination of novel biomass & bioenergy knowledge that otherwise may not be considered elsewhere. It is a rapid publication medium that is open access with an accompanying hardcopy that is published in our Asian Office.
-
American Chemical Society CELL (Cellulose & Renewable Materials) DIVISION: CELL is the global leader in the chemical science and technology of renewable materials and biopolymers. CELL serves its members by providing an integrated platform to identify, process, and disseminate knowledge that advances the science and technology of renewable materials and biopolymers. The NCSU PI is the Secretary on the Executive Board and has promoted the forum CELL provides to showcase the laboratory work arising out of BioSUCCEED.

US Southeastern SUNGRANT Center: The SunGrant Initiative is a concept to solve America's energy needs and revitalize rural communities with land-grant university research, education, and extension programs on renewable energy and biobased, non-food industries. Five regions of the U.S. will carry out the Sun Grant Initiative, with coordination led by land-grant universities that have biomass production potentials and involvement in bioenergy research. A Southeastern Sun Grant Center of Excellence at the University of Tennessee, would coordinate activity in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The UT PI is the Center Director and has been actively involved in incorporating the mission of BioSUCCEED in a number of initiatives at the Center.
