As an entertainment industry executive, David Dean once worked on Music Row in Nashville, Tenn., helping promote the debut album for Montgomery Gentry and releases by Ricochet and John Michael Montgomery.
Now, the Raleigh native is singing a new song, one that deals with subjects such as going green, organic foods and renewable energy.
Dean is NC State's new outreach coordinator in the Office of Sustainability, where he plans to build upon the university's ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable campus by getting everyone involved in the act.
"I'd like to see everyone on campus be involved in whatever aspect of sustainability interests them most," Dean says. "There are already some things in place that make it possible for NC State to be a sustainability leader not only in the state, but also regionally and nationally. We need to come together in order to accomplish this goal."
Since starting his new position at the university last month, Dean has been out and about connecting with people, departments and units on campus that relate to sustainability. So if you've got an idea that helps make NC State a more sustainable environment, Dean wants to hear from you. He can be reached by e-mail at david_dean@ncsu.edu.
Dean is one of approximately 40 new employees who joined the university in the past month. As a recurring feature in the Bulletin, we'll profile new hires and other employees at the university. If you know of someone on campus that we should profile in 'The Faces of State" feature, e-mail the Bulletin and tell us about them.
