CLASS LIAISONS

Position Description

Interested in taking on a unique leadership role in the Caldwell Fellows alumni community? The Caldwell Fellows program aims to identify two class liaisons for each class of Caldwells / Fellows. These volunteers will serve as a supplementary contact between members of their class and program staff, contribute to alumni programs and planning, disseminate information to class members, and assist in special projects. Please note liaisons do not have to live in the Raleigh area. However, class liaisons should be willing to contribute 4-5 hours every 1-2 months to assist in alumni communication. Class liaisons will serve for one calendar year on a volunteer basis with the option to continue service at the end of the term. There is no limit to the number of terms that can be served.

Characteristics of a class liaison:

  • Interest in strengthening the relationship between Caldwell / Fellows alumni and The Caldwell Fellows program

  • Continued relationships with some class members and a desire to contact and build relationships with all class members

  • Willingness to support and promote program-sponsored services and events for alumni

  • Able to be reached reliably via phone and e-mail

  • 4-5 hours to contribute to alumni communication every 1-2 months

  • Able to work well with the other class liaison for the class

Duties/Roles:

  • Make personal contact with class members at least once per year and make yourself available for questions, ideas, etc., during the year

  • Update class members on alumni initiatives, solicit feedback for staff on current programs and services for alumni, and help program staff identify new programs and services for alumni

  • Disseminate information from program staff to class members regarding alumni services and events (Benefit Gala, reunions, Homecoming tailgate) via e-mail or postal mail

  • Encourage classmates to submit internship opportunities (in early Oct) via the alumni Web site

  • Find "lost" class members with obsolete contact information

  • Work with staff to build relationships with alumni who are not engaged with the CF program

  • Direct class members to the new alumni Web site to keep them up to date with program activity and obtain their feedback on the alumni Web site
