The Caldwell Fellows

Caldwell Fellows are a driven group. But what compels them to action might surprise you. A program rooted in the premise that investment in the lives of promising young adults makes a difference, the students who comprise the Caldwell Fellows are a community of leaders driven by service, not self-interest.

Created to honor the legacy of Chancellor Emeritus John Tyler Caldwell, the Caldwell Programs carries on the spirit and ideals that made him such a memorable part of NC State University. The Caldwell Fellows are a community instilled with the responsibilities brought by the privilege of higher education; a responsibility for service to NC State, to North Carolina and the world.

Caldwell Fellowships are the only university-wide merit award for first-year students at NC State. Through a rigorous selection process each spring, twenty-five new Fellows are selected from the freshman class that entered the previous fall. Fellows receive a financial award that includes a three-year tuition stipend, as well as annual enrichmment stipends for study abroad, professional development, self-development, and service experiences.
