Traditional Interviews

Though fewer employers conduct traditional interviews, you'll want to know how they work so you can be prepared. The interview is organized around your resume. Your resume is used as a guide to probe your preferences, decisions, and accomplishments.

  • Sample questions
Employers generally start at the top of your resume and ask questions to help determine if you are a good match for the position or organization.

  • How to prepare
Know your resume from top to bottom. Be ready to communicate what you have learned from each of your decisions and experiences. Have examples ready to back up statements you make about yourself.

"I developed strong writing skills during my summer internship. For example, last summer I wrote two technical reports and received positive feedback from my supervisor."
