References
If you are graduating this year and looking for a job, you'll need a list of references; some employers will request this list. (If you are seeking an internship or co-op, a list of references is not necessary.)
When you are asked by employers to provide references, give them a copy of your list. Letters of recommendation are not necessary. Employers will typically check your references by phone.
Getting started
Wondering who to choose as your references? Consider those who know you well -- your strengths, interests, and accomplishments. Choose a mixture of faculty, advisors, internship or co-op supervisors, and/or community contacts.

Once you have their permission, add them to your list. Provide each reference with a copy of your resume. Email or send a thank you note to show your appreciation. When you secure a job, be sure to let your references know your success.
